If you follow me on Instagram, you would already know that I love Althea Korea. I have been a fan since they first launched 3 years ago and even more so now that they came out with their own-brand beauty products.
For those not in the know, Althea Korea is an online shopping website that sells Korean beauty products – hair, skin, nails, make up – you name it, they have it. They carry a number of different Korean brands which makes it easier for all of us beauty addicts to get our K-Beauty fix.The products ship direct from Korea and shipping to the Philippines takes about 8 to 10 business days for packages to be delivered. I have never had a bad experience with Althea and that says a lot given that I have gotten so many packages and placed so many orders from them. The items are always properly packaged and I always get the best value for my money!
Last year, they came out with their own brand-products. I have loved everything they’ve come up with and in fact, most of the products I’ve tried from them have become a part of my regular routine (the Petal Velvet Sunaway Cream is a MUST and I’ve already re-purchased the Gel Cream Cleanser – it’s become my favorite facial wash)! That says a lot because I have become more careful with the stuff I put on my face now that I am older.
When I first heard that Althea were developing makeup to add to their line, you bet I was so excited! If the quality of their make up products were on par with their skincare products then I was sure I was going to be in for a real treat. HA – talk about high expectations.
Super pigmented and so easy to blend, these Watercolor Cream Tints are perfect for folks like me who do not like retouching their lipstick often. The colors are beautiful but so far, my favorite is 04 Marron (not to be mistaken for Maroon – Marron is actually “Brown” in French), followed by 03 Peach. These feel very nice on the lips – smooth and creamy. These have a faint rosey candy-like scent which smell delicious and isn’t overwhelming. That’s good because I cannot stand strong sickly sweet saccharine scents.
Spotlight Eye Glitter in 01 Gold Light & 02 Pink Light (Php300 each, 4.5ml)
These Spotlight Eye Glitters were the ones I was most excited to try. I love glitter, but the glitter liners I’ve tried in the past either didn’t set properly, were too chunky or just downright didn’t work. These are AMAZING. The glitters are super fine, and once it sets, it stays put! I used the gold one a couple of days ago and it is very subtle but makes the eyes pop. I am very excited to experiment with these more!
Flawless Creamy Concealers in 01 Vanilla, 02 Ginger, 03 Honey & 04 Mocha (Php200 each, 6g)
Now of all the products, these are the ones I was skeptical about. I have extremely dark under eye circles so I am very picky about concealers. I want my concealers to be pigmented, provide good coverage, are easy to blend, sets nicely and doesn’t crease. These Flawless Creamy Concealers are super smooth and creamy, however, these only offer light to medium coverage. I personally prefer my concealers to be more in the medium to high coverage range so these are just okay for me. The finish is beautiful, and it doesn’t feel sticky or heavy at all, which I like. I just wish it offered a bit more coverage.
Of all the things I received, the Sunrise & Moonrise Eyeshadow Palette was the one I wasn’t overly excited about because based on experience, Korean eyeshadows don’t provide much pigment and I was expecting the same to be true for this palette. Oh boy was I wrong. First of all, I love the sleek and simple packaging. Second, the shades are a beautiful mix of everyday neutrals and pops of color. The glitter shadows are interesting and I love that they chose a cranberry and a gold shade. The matte and shimmer shades are super smooth, pigmented and easy to blend. My favorite is the purple/plum shade – oh my goodness I was oohing and ahhing the whole time I was putting it on. It is gorgeous! I used it on it’s own and then just added a black liner. It’s definitely one of my favorite go-to night time looks now. I also like using the matte brown shade as an all-over color just to even out the color of my lids. You definitely should check this out because it is gorgeous!!!
If I only had to pick one from all the new make up offerings from Althea, I would definitely choose the Sunrise and Moonrise Eye Palette. This is one of the very few Korean eyeshadow palettes that I encountered that offers AMAZING payoff, with the colors staying true to pan… but why pick when you can have all, right? Hahaha! Go check these products out now! 😉
I am so excited for what Althea has in store for us this year. If this launch is anything to go by, I bet they have more amazing beauty and skincare things coming!!!
