It’s been a while since I was last excited about makeup. I’ve been uninspired for a while – opting to go for my usual dark brown eyeshadow all over the lids for nights out and a simple no eyeshadow look for mornings… that is, until the BCLxAlthea Sunrise and Moonrise Palette.
I have often been disappointed with Korean eyeshadows – most of the ones I’ve come across with have been super glittery but not very pigmented – so I wasn’t very excited for this as I mentioned in my Althea Make Up Launch post, but I was very pleasantly surprised when I swatched them.
The Sunrise and Moonrise palette is sooo good, it’s earned its permanent place in my vanity. I have been reaching for this for the last couple of weeks – whether I am going out to run errands and I want to feel extra nice, or when I go out at night. I love all the colors and I am so loving the glitter shades as well!
But as with anything, there is always a con and mine would be that they didn’t include a matte dark brown/matte black in the palette – otherwise, this would be a great one-and-done palette for me. The size is perfect for traveling, the shades are great for day to night and oh it’s a joy to blend!
I have been loving it so much that I thought I’d document and share some of the looks I created with this palette. I have always shied away from pink and red eyeshadows because I feel that I can never rock it – I mean it can make you look sickly or worse, dead hahahaha – but the pink and red shades on this palette are actually beautiful! So I used the pink for a daytime look and the red for a night time look.
DAY TIME LOOK
I used the Pink shade (shade #7) on the Sunrise and Moonrise palette all over the lid, and added a bit of my contour powder on the crease for definition as well as a little bit of black eyeshadow on the lash line. I love how subtle it is, but it helped make my eyes look a little less tired (I woke up crying – if you watch my IG Stories, you’d know why). I love how it made me look fresh!
I also used the Althea Flawless Creamy Concealer in shades Ginger and Honey for under the eyes (I badly needed concealer – more than usual lol) and the Maroon Watercolor Tint on my lips – which is my favourite from the set!
NIGHT TIME LOOK
For the nighttime look, I used the Plum Cream Watercolor Cream Tint as my base (yes, I used the lip tint as a base!) and topped it off with the Burgundy shade (shade # 6). I then added a bit of the Dark Brown (shade #5) on the outer corner and crease. I also added the Burgundy shade (shade #6) on the lower lash line along with a bit of black eyeliner. To make the eyes pop even more (and because I am extra), I put a bit of the rose gold glitter shade (shade #3) on the inner corners of my eyes, as well as under the eyeliner wing and then topped it off with a pair of full-on wispy lashes.
This was a pretty heavy eye look so I needed to make sure my base was clean and for that, I used the Althea concealers in shades Ginger and Honey. I am not wearing any foundation here, but I did use the Flawless Concealer in the shade Mocha to hide some spots and blemishes. On the lips, I used the Plum Watercolor Cream Tint – the same tint I used as my eyeshadow base.
To make your eyeshadow last longer and for the colors really show up, I suggest that you use an eye primer or concealer. Let it dry but don’t set it with powder. This will help make the colors pop more and the eyeshadows last longer.
If you are on the lookout for a new eyeshadow palette, definitely check this out. It is a little on the pricey side at Php1780.00 but I think it’s worth it! Oh and pick up a few of the Watercolor Cream Lip Tints while you are at it too! 😉
