After the crazy holiday season stress, one of my best friends and I needed to get away and recharge. We love going to Tagaytay whenever we need some R&R (rest and relaxation) and after some going back and forth, looking at photos and checking reviews, we ended up booking a room at Kasa Luntian for January 27th 2019.
Kasa Luntian is very easy to locate. You can look them up on Waze, or if you often go to Tagaytay, it is near Starbucks – the one with the insanely steep entryway. They also put up signs along the highway so you won’t miss it.
When you drive in to Kasa Luntian, their receiving area is separate from the serviced residence section with a pretty spacious parking lot for when you check in. If you do not have a reservation, you won’t be able to get into the compound and I love that because it felt very safe and private. The lady who checked us in was very nice (her name was Princess) and accommodating. We were asked to leave a deposit of Php1,000.00, which was fine because some resorts/hotels/serviced residences do ask for a security deposit up front. It was refunded to us when we checked out.
The grounds are beautifully designed. I really liked their pool area and how instead of having one big pool, they had five mini pools – so unless there are a lot of people checked in, you and your group can have one mini pool to all to yourselves. Too bad the pool is not heated because we would have spent a lot of time there if it was. Tagaytay is just way too cold especially at around 6-7PM, which is when we like to swim haha!
The place is VERY quiet. I don’t know if it was because we went there on a Sunday so there weren’t a lot of people there but it was very peaceful. I spent quite a bit of alone time in the veranda and although the view wasn’t very pretty (our veranda view was of the electrical boxes hahahaha), I didn’t mind because the weather was perfect! It was so peaceful that I was able to organize my thoughts, reflect, unload, and plan for the future!
The room is pretty spacious and very clean; the beds were extremely comfortable. It is a serviced residence, so the room comes equipped with a kitchenette. We didn’t know that, otherwise I would have gotten some stuff from the grocery to bring for the trip (like eggs and cheese for breakfast… yum)! We also had a microwave, a water heater and cutlery.
The bathroom was pretty spacious too although I wish they would improve their drainage system because it took a while for the water to fully drain. Plus there was a little bit of a smell coming out of the drain. Not an “omg-I-can’t-take-it” smell, but it was noticeable.
There is an in-house cafe called Taza Mia that is open until 10PM. The food was okay and the prices were decent! We only tried their drinks and potato wedges so I can’t really attest to the quality of the food but based on what we had, it was okay! They also deliver straight to your door so it’s very very convenient.
What We Liked
- The place is VERY QUIET.
- They have an in-house cafe that is open until 10PM.
- The staff are efficient. The lady who checked us in (Princess) was very helpful. All the guards were too, as well as the maintenance staff and the lady who delivered our food.
- The security staff regularly went around the area, making sure everything is safe and secure.
- The room is clean, beds are VERY comfortable.
- It is a serviced residence so you have a kitchenette – including a stove, microwave, water heater, sink, and cutlery.
- LOTS of parking space.
- It is near the highway, so you can easily go to restaurants.
- There is a 7-11 nearby.
Points of Improvement
- The pool is not heated.
- The view from our veranda was not very pretty (unless you find electrical boxes pretty haha).
- The drainage in the bathroom could be better.
As far as pricing is concerned, we booked through a deal site so I don’t think the price we paid is the same as their regular rates but we paid a little less than Php4000.00.
Here’s a short video of Kasa Luntian. I am so sorry for the unstable footage – I was using my Samsung NX-Mini and an unbalanced gimbal LOL (newbie alert haha). To be honest, this experience/output is what solidified my desire for getting the Osmo Pocket!
So with all that being said, would we go back? Yes, of course! We had a great time at Kasa Luntian. It was relaxing to be there, and to breathe the cold, crisp, clean air. We definitely ended the trip on a high note and went home rejuvenated – ready to face reality again!
