A few weeks ago, some of my girl friends and I decided to take a quick break from the city and of course, where else did we go but our favorite staycation location – Tagaytay! Our resident deal-finder found us an awesome deal for Twin Lakes Hotel and off we went on the first week of March. Based on the photos we saw online when we booked our stay, the hotel looked amazing and so we had high expectations before going there – although we were told that they are still on soft opening.
The room was beautiful! It had two double beds. I like the color scheme – neutrals and a beautiful shade of blue. The beds were very comfortable, and there were a lot of sockets so you and your roomies will not fight over who gets to charge their gadgets first LOL.
The bathroom was pretty spacious, and the best feature for me is the very clean and not sketchy-looking bathtub LOL! The bathroom had the same marble scheme as most of the hotel. All the lights were yellow though, so that is not the best kind of lighting for doing your make up but there’s a huge glass sliding door that leads to the veranda and you can use the natural light to do your make up instead.
Now on to the glass sliding door. We found it odd that the air-conditioning turns off every time you open the sliding door. It was a little inconvenient because every time somebody stepped out – to hang towels or to take a phone call, or just to appreciate the view, the AC would turn off LOL. I don’t know why they did that – maybe because some people like leaving the veranda door open, but for us, it wasn’t a feature we appreciated. Also, the AC turning on and off constantly would end up being more wasteful in terms of energy use, right? Oh well.
The view to the veranda was beautiful and very relaxing. Since it was just on soft opening, the vineyard is still a work in progress, but just imagine all those step looking things (like the rice terraces) would be all green in a matter of months! My friends and I are planning to go back to see it when everything is in full bloom.
We also enjoyed the pool because unlike most of the pools in Tagaytay, it was heated, so even though Tagaytay is typically cold, you wouldn’t feel it as much when you are in the water. This is actually the first time I took advantage of the pool in Tagaytay!
The breakfast buffet offered a lot of options. They had the standard cereal section, the salad section, breakfast viands, egg station, congee, dimsum and Chinese food station, and bread station. The viands were just okay for me, the breads were good, but I was pleasantly surprised by the dimsum! It was really good – not cheap dimsum at all! The room service was a little on the pricey side, with the food prices ranging from Php350 to Php600. Good thing you can always take the shuttle to the food/merchant area, which is what we did for lunch and dinner.
What I Like
- The location is very private – peaceful, quiet and relaxing.
- The interiors are very nice – elegant and rustic chic.
- The view from the view deck is stunning!
- They offer scheduled shuttle services from the hotel to Twin Lakes.
- The bathroom is very spacious!
- The whole room is very clean, and the bed is very comfortable.
- The pool is heated.
- Their dimsum at the breakfast buffet was delicious!!!
- There are a lot of sockets in the room.
Points of Improvement
- Food is on the pricey side. If I remember correctly, the average price is around 400 to 500.
- Service was a little slow.
- The AC turns off overtime the veranda door is opened, and if it isn’t closed properly, the AC won’t turn on.
- The breakfast buffet was just okay.
- They are still on soft opening, so construction is still ongoing.
Although it wasn’t perfect, we absolutely loved our stay at Twin Lakes Hotel in Tagatay and we will definitely be back!!! Price-wise, we were able to take advantage of their soft opening promo and paid somewhere around Php6500.00.
For all you visual creatures out there, here is a quick video from our staycation. Hope you enjoy!
